Timothy A. Schneidau, MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and is on staff with the GW Medical Faculty Associates urology department with special interests in stone disease, BPH, and male infertility. He is a graduate of The George Washington University with a B.S. degree in Zoology in 1983 and earned his M.D. degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his urology residency at New York Medical College in 1996.Dr. Schneidau previously served as a urologist with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group with 25 years of dedicated service. He received the DCSM shining star award in 2016. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a general medical officer and then a urologist joining in 1985 as a medical student. He retired as a Navy Captain (O-6) in December 2012 with multiple overseas deployments including service in theater during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991 in addition to service at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany in 2008 and 2012 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.Dr. Schneidau has been selected as a “Top Doctor” in Urology in both the Washingtonian Magazine (November 2023) and the Northern VA Magazine (February 2023).His military awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, both an Army Commendation and an Army Achievement Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a Kuwait Liberation Medal, a Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Navy Unit Commendations and a Navy Expeditionary Medal.Dr. Schneidau enjoys teaching and has mentored many residents, medical students, and corpsmen over his 25-year career.Dr. Schneidau is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), the Mid Atlantic Section of the AUA and the Society of Government Service Urologists. His research has been published in various journals including the Journal of Urology, Life Science, and Journal of Nuclear Medicine, and he has given multiple conference and grand rounds presentations.
