About Patricia R Centron Vinales

Patricia Centron Vinales, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Renal Disease and Hypertension at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is the director of the Nephrology Group Medicine practice.

Dr. Centron received her medical degree from the Technologic University of Santiago. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at New York Downtown Hospital. She worked as an academic hospitalist at the New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical College and went on to complete a Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She received additional training in Ultrasonography of the kidney at Emory University School of Medicine. She is certified in plant-based nutrition.

She is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association and Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Her research interests include the effects of diet in progression of chronic kidney disease, morbidity and mortality, kidney stone prevention, gut microbiome and uremic toxins, and factors associated with GFR loss in peritoneal dialysis.

Dr. Centron founded the GW Renal Wellness Program in 2018 to assist CKD patients in slowing the progression of disease by transitioning and staying in a whole-foods plant-based diet.
